Kenai Fjords

Some friends and I went on an Alaskan cruise,  kicking off the trip with some exploration of mainland Alaska. After our arrival in Anchorage, the next day we would travel early to Seward for our cruise with Kenai Fjords Tours (highly recommended!).

Very early in our trip, we encountered killer whales, including one that breached a couple times against a magnificent mountain background- what a way to start a trip!

Steller sea sion haulout- in the smaller, low rock in the middle of the photo has quite a few Steller sea lions resting on it.

… resting and defending their harem against other male sea lions.

Harbor seals in front of Pedersen Glacier.

Lapis lazuli blue- photos never do the color justice.

Pedersen Glacier.

Our captain had knowledge of a bloom of moon jellies, which he then used the props of the boat to wash them up from beneath.

We rencountered the killer whale pod once again, and this time I was able to get a photo of the calf they were traveling with.

Our first humpback of the trip.
